CAMERA OBSCURA Trailer Ghosts & Music

November 7th, 2009 | By NiNi

Lots of exciting stuff going on at The Crow’s Nest in the land of ancient demons and the camera that captures them! The biggest undertaking of all was completed yesterday: a brand-new lyrical CORVO track – called HIDE – written specifically for an entire CAMERA OBSCURA episode. It was a daunting and extremely satisfying chapter for us, and you’ll get to see/hear it about six episodes in. We’re still not sure on a release date, but we’ll keep ya posted.

In the meantime, here’s some crunchy little nuggets of CAMERA OBSCURA goodness to tide you over… enjoy!

What is CAMERA OBSCURA?

September 23rd, 2009 | By NiNi

A spellbinding, Lovecraftian web series with an iconic leading actor [Jack Klugman], a prolific director with a true passion for horror [Drew Daywalt of FEWDIO], a very “real” cast of characters with actors we instantly felt connected to, an intense and tightly woven script that kept us awake at night, a hideous lot of horrifying creatures [that keep us awake at night], a creepy hospital from the original Nightmare on Elm Street, and a creative endeavor that has kept us blissfully challenged with exploring sounds we’ve never done before.

And finally, this week, we can show you a little CAMERA OBSCURA, because sneak peeks of the series have started rolling out at some great sites, so enjoy the features below. Although this teaser video will give you a hint of how the series is looking, the music in the teaser is not by CORVO. Nope, you’ll have to wait until the actual episodes begin airing to hear OUR demons, so… stay tuned, because we’ll keep you posted as we get closer to the October premiere!

New Instrumental: CORPUS CORVI

Corpus Corvi

Okay, so we can’t give too much away about the work we’ve done so far on the CAMERA OBSCURA score, but it won’t be naughty to tell you that we’re definitely getting in touch with our “ancient primal” sides these days.

This is NOT a CAMERA OBSCURA track, but a little something we conjured up in preparation for the series. It all began as an experiment with new percussive elements we’d planned on using, and then, as always around here, a twisted fairytale evolved from the music, which then became a video, which then became a piece of digital art.

The story behind the song involves a sensual, Lovecraftian, “Raven Cult” called The Corpus Corvi, and the woman you see is the High Priestess. The visuals were definitely inspired by Dario Argento’s LA TERZA MADRE, and musically, we were both inspired by the ravens constantly flapping their wings in our skulls. It is our hope that this will make your imaginations run a little wild with ours, and if not… well, that our weird little stories will at least entertain you!Subscribe to Corvo's Podcast on iTunes

The Phoenix & The Raven: Apocalyptic Art with Lori Handeland & Corvo

May 16th, 2009 | By NiNi

DOOMSDAY CAN WAIT - Graphics by NiNi We’ve had the honor of working on magic, monsters and end-times mayhem with MTP Productions and New York Times Bestselling Author, Lori Handeland, for her latest book release, DOOMSDAY CAN WAIT – THE PHOENIX CHRONICLES, BOOK 2.

With G9’s music and NiNi’s voice – speaking instead of singing, this time – as well as NiNi’s graphic illustrations and editing, the supernaturally sexy world of hard-edged heroine, Liz Phoenix has come to life in a video that NiNi says was “visually inspired by the films 300, Watchmen, and a little bit of Grindhouse: Planet Terror.”

“I also see the two MEN in my life as they REALLY are: a shape-shifting witch, and a half-vampire that’s turning bat-shit-evil! I STILL don’t know whether to kiss or kill them.”
~Liz Phoenix, DOOMSDAY CAN WAIT Video

For you bookworms in Corvo’s Murder – we know there’s quite a few of you – we’d like to say rather objectively that The Phoenix Chronicles is a fascinating series with “Revelationary” characters and creatures [Revelations + revolutionary = Revelationary!] that we’re sure you’d love to meet. The books kept our imaginations, dark art, and romantic horror rock music alive, kicking…and definitely biting!

To learn more about the series, shape-shift on over to Lori’s website. We hope you enjoy the video! Press the little “HQ” button before you hit “play” to see it in high quality and hear it in stereo!

HELDEN: From the Front Row [Apocalyptica Dallas 05.12.08]

July 13th, 2008 | By NiNi

Eicca - Photo taken at the concert and then photo-manipped by NiNi

I have never in my life experienced a concert more perfectly than at Apocalyptica’s very first show in Dallas, TX [at the House of Blues]. At first, I was just going to string together a few videos and a bunch of photos my new-found front-row friend Shelby had captured on her camera, but then… this video just took me on an artistic journey of its own, and I couldn’t stop it [nor did I want to]! Enjoy this fan documentary, and let me know what you think of the video. Finally, if you ever get the opportunity to see these guys in concert, don’t let it pass you by… it’ll be one of the best shows of your life, I promise.

Have you seen Apocalyptica live? What do you think of the band? What are some of your favorite Apo songs? Who is your favorite band member?

“White spotlights appeared one at a time to highlight each player as he launched into the enigmatic opening strains of the title track from Worlds Collide. The cheers built to a deafening crescendo as Mikko’s thunderous toms launched the song’s first explosive synchronized cello riffs. I felt a physical blast of compressed air from the amp stacks as the low-end vibrations kicked in, hammered home by a machine-gun double kick.” ~From G9’s FEARnet Review of the Show
